Delhi EV Policy Details
The Delhi EV Policy was first announced in August 2020. The primary objective of the policy was to increase the share of electric vehicles in the city to 25 per cent by 2024. A report claims that the Government of NCT Delhi will give its approval for EV Policy extension till 31st March 2024.
As per the first notification, the Delhi EV Policy expired on 8 August 2023. However, it was repeatedly extended by the Delhi Government which could be due to the lack of desired results. As per recent reports, the Delhi Government is drafting a new EV Policy, but there is no information about the implementation of the new electric policy yet.
Delhi Transport Minister Said…
In a statement, Kailash Gahlot, Delhi Transport Minister said that the new Delhi EV Policy will be centred around incentivising the retrofitment of vehicles due to its high cost. If it happens then the new EV Policy will allow customers to fit electric kits in their petrol or diesel vehicles at a reasonable cost which will not require buying expensive electric vehicles.
