Delhi Police arrest gang leader involved in illegal ammunition trafficking

Delhi Police arrested a 27-year-old gang leader who was caught with 2,251 live cartridges.

Shubham Singh, a 27 year old kingpin of a gang is a resident of Jaunpur district. He was accused of supplying arms and ammunition to the sand mafia in Bihar.

Previously, six members of the gang – Ajmal, Rashid, Saddam, Parikshit Negi, Nasir and another person were also arrested.

According to report – ‘Delhi Police traced him to Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, but he kept changing his whereabouts. Later he was caught and brought to Delhi.’

At time of questioning Shubham Singh said that when he was 17 years old, in attempt to murder he was jailed in police station Sarpatha of Jaunpur district of UP. When he was released he engaged with arms dealers and started supplying indigenous arms and ammunition. After sometime he came to know about sand mafia operating Ara district of Bihar.

Then he came in contact with Meerut resident Anil Balyan. Notably Anil Balyan was already involved in illegal smuggling of live cartridges. Shubham met Parikshit Negi through Anil Balyan and then started an alliance of illegal smuggling of cartridges for sand mafia from Dehradun to Bhojpur, Ara in Bihar.

But in March 2022, Anil Balyan was arrested in Meerut. He was arrested in attempt to murder. Presently he is still lodged in Meerut Jail. But their alliance continued.
