The DRDO Defense Research and Development Organization conducted two successful test flights of the Very Short Range Air Defense System (VSHORADS) missile from a ground based portable launcher on 27 September 2022 from the Integrated Test Range Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. It is considered a great success in terms of security.
DRDO on 27 September conducted two successful test flights of the Very Short Range Air Defense System missile from a ground-based portable launcher from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha. VSHORADS is a Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPAD), indigenously designed and developed by DRDO’s Research Center Imarat RCI Hyderabad in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners.
VSHORADS incorporates several innovative technologies including Miniature Reaction Control System and Integrated Avionics, which have been proven successfully during trials. Designed to neutralize low altitude air threats over short ranges, the missile is propelled by a dual thrust solid motor.
The two successful test flights of the Very Short Range Air Defense System missile from a ground-based portable launcher is being considered as a big step forward in terms of increasing defense power. These missiles will prove to be important to neutralize air threats.
