EC sends notice to Telangana minister for ‘no vote, no scheme’ remark

The Election Commission has sent a notice to Telangana Energy Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader G Jagadeesh Reddy for “violating” the model code of conduct. During a public meeting on October 25, Jagadish Reddy had said that if people do not vote for the car symbol (BRS election symbol) in Munugode by-election, then welfare schemes will be stopped, that is, no vote no scheme. By elections are to be held on November 3.

BJP’s Kapilvai Dilip Kumar had filed a complaint against Jagadish Reddy on October 26. It was alleged that the minister in his speech had spoken of stopping all welfare schemes if he did not vote for the BRS candidate.

‘Whether to continue with the pension scheme or not?’

In fact, Jagadish Reddy had said in his speech that ‘this election is not between Kusukuntala Prabhakar Reddy and Rajagopal Reddy. Rather it is whether to continue or not to continue the pension of Rs 2,000, whether to continue Rythu brothers or not, whether to continue 24 hours free electricity or not. Whether to continue the pension of Rs 3,000 for the disabled or not?’

‘If you are not interested in pension then vote for Modi’

He further said that ‘those who are willing to continue with the schemes, they should vote for the car and stand with KCR. PM Modi said no to pension of Rs 3,000 but KCR said that he will definitely give it. If anyone is not interested in pension then he can vote for Modi. Vote for KCR if anyone wants these schemes.

Election commission sought answer

The Election Commission has asked Reddy to clarify his stand regarding his statement by 3 pm on Saturday, October 29. It has also been said that for not doing so, a decision will be taken without giving any further reference to the minister.
