Electric Bikes: The retail sales of electric models increased by just 2.53% month-over-month (m-o-m) in September, indicating a very moderate growth in the electric two-wheeler market.
The retail sales of electric two-wheelers reached 51,784 units in September, according to figures from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), an increase of only 2.53% over the 50,506 units sold in August.
Retail sales of electric two-wheelers reached 49,189 units in April. Supply chain issues and a string of fire accidents involving electric scooters made by Ola Electric, Okinawa, Hero Electric, Pure EV, Jitendra New EV, and Boom Motors contributed to a significant drop in sales to 39,520 units in May. Retail sales then gradually improved, reaching 42,303 units in June and 44,614 units in July.
With a retail of 9,649 units, Ola Electric topped the sales charts throughout the month. Okinawa, which sold 8,280 units, came next. In contrast to Ampere’s 6,188 units and Ather Energy’s 6,176 units, Hero Electric sold 8,019 units. Bajaj Auto sold 2,593 electric scooters while TVS Motor Company sold 3,940 units.
