Indian Institute of Technology has released the dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021. This entrance exam is conducted for the admissions of a Master’s degree in Engineering and Doctorate. As per reports of IIT, Bombay the master’s degree entrance examination will be held in the window of February 5 to 7 and February 12 to 13 in 2021.
While there were many changes in the format of examination as well right from eligibility criteria to the syllabus. As per the new eligibility criteria, students of 3rd year are also eligible to apply for GATE 2021. The eligibility criteria would further be changed given the challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addition of Humanities in GATE
These arrangements are handled by a team of Professors in IIT Bombay: Deepankar Choudhury, Upender Bhandarkar, and Mohammad Aslam. With additional of two new subjects- Environmental Science and Engineering, or XS, or ES, and Humanities and Social Science, the subject count is now 27. The addition of Humanities in the syllabus raised lots of question but the IIT Bombay Director said Humanities will help students to get jobs in PSUs.
Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of IIT Bombay revealed they are delighted at the creation of various career opportunities for all Humanities and Social areas. Later on, he also added this move may serve in the future as one single admission criteria for various masters and doctorate programs in IIT’S, NIT’S, GFTI’S, and certain private colleges as well.
