Bharat New Car Assessment Program: After the launch of Bharat NCAP, the major player, Global NCAP has planned not to rival Bharat NCAP. The Global player has decided to end its Safer Cars For India Campaign by December this year. The reason behind the Global NCAP decision is to align its efforts with the newly launched Bharat NCAP. Global NCAP runs Safer Car for India Campaign which was officially launched in 2013. This campaign played an important role in promoting safer vehicles in India. In the last 10 Years, during this campaign, Global NCAP conducted crash tests of over 50 vehicles with 62 test performed in total. The Major deeply evaluated the build quality and safety features of passenger vehicles manufactured in India.
A Collaboration With India
To assist India in the transition, Global NCAP has recently signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Insitute for Road Transport (CIRT) which is a technical secretariat for Ministry of Road Transport and Highway. The collaboration aims to set a framework of cooperation which Global NCAP already maintains with other NCAP programs. In line with this MOU, NCAP will be required to provide technical support for BNCAP that it has achieved with its so many years of experience in the domain.
