Google Pay, a widely-used digital payment app, has unveiled three new features designed to streamline online transactions for its users. These enhancements aim to make online payments faster and more secure, adding to the app’s popularity among millions of people worldwide. Here’s a detailed look at the new features:
First Feature: Enhanced Autofill with Biometrics
The first feature allows users to enter their card information through fingerprint, face scan, or PIN. With the autofill feature on Chrome and Android, users can save time when purchasing goods. This feature automatically fills in shipping addresses, billing addresses, and payment information. Now, whenever users make a payment using Autofill on Chrome or Android, they can use the same method they use to unlock their phone (fingerprint, face scan, or PIN) to fill in their card information. This eliminates the need to manually enter the security code.
Google also offers an additional layer of security through device unlock. Users will be prompted to unlock their phone before their full card details are displayed when making a payment, ensuring that unauthorized users cannot access their card information.
Second Feature: Easily View Card Benefits
The second feature helps users view and utilize card benefits more effectively. Many credit cards offer rewards for shopping, but it can be challenging to remember which card provides the most benefits. Google Pay simplifies this by displaying available benefits from users’ cards during the payment process. Currently, this feature is available for American Express and Capital One cardholders using Chrome desktop. Google Pay plans to expand this feature to include more cards in the future.
Third Feature: Buy Now, Pay Later
The third feature is the “Buy Now, Pay Later” option, which Google Pay is now offering on more shopping websites. Earlier this year, Google Pay began trialing this feature with select partners like Affirm and Zip. Recently, the company has added more merchant sites and Android apps in the US to this offering, providing users with greater flexibility in managing their online purchases.
These new features are set to enhance the user experience by making online payments quicker, safer, and more convenient. Google Pay continues to innovate, ensuring that it remains a top choice for digital payments worldwide.
