Harry Styles injured: Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, Harry Styles, recently experienced an unfortunate event while performing onstage in Vienna. According to People, the former One Direction member was struck in the face by a flying object thrown from the audience, marking a worrying trend among concertgoers.
The Incident in Vienna: Styles Keeps His Cool
As Styles, attired in a dazzling green sequined outfit, walked the stage’s catwalk during his ‘Love on Tour’ show on Saturday night, he was hit in the eye by a flying object. The singer briefly paused, crouched down, and then continued his walk up a flight of steps, as seen in a video posted by an attendee and shared by Pop Crave.
Despite the incident, the Grammy winner managed to conclude the show with the encore song, ‘Kiwi’. This isn’t the first time Styles has found himself in such a situation; last month, a bouquet of roses was thrown at him during a Cardiff concert.
A Recurring Issue: Concert Etiquette Breaches
The incident involving Styles is part of a growing concern about audience behaviour at concerts. In recent times, other prominent artists, including Bebe Rexha, Drake, Kelsea Ballerini, Steve Lacy, Kid Cudi, and Pink, have had objects hurled at them mid-performance. Notably, Rexha was injured last month in New York City when a fan threw his phone at her, resulting in a split eyebrow that needed stitches.
Calling for Change: Celebrities Voice Concern Over Concert Safety
Several celebrities, including Adele and Charlie Puth, have spoken up about these safety concerns at concerts. Adele light-heartedly challenged her audience to hurl objects at her during her ‘Weekends with Adele’ concert in Las Vegas. On the other hand, Charlie Puth voiced his concern about this worrying trend more earnestly on Twitter, insisting, “The practice of lobbing items at artists, while they perform onstage, needs to cease.”
As more artists fall victim to such incidents, the call for increased security measures and respect for concert etiquette is becoming increasingly important. The incident with Harry Styles underscores the need for urgent attention to this issue, ensuring the safety of performers and maintaining the concert atmosphere as a place for enjoyment and celebration of music.
