Haryana minister Anil Vij has tested positive for covid-19. He took to Twitter to shar the information on Saturday. Notably, the BJP leader had administered covid-19 vaccine, Covaxin, shot last month.
“I have been tested Corona positive. I am admitted in Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt. All those who have come in close contact to me are advised to get themselves tested for corona,” he said in a tweet
He had volunteered to administer Covaxin dose on November 20 as a part of vaccine candidate’s third phase trial.
“Trial for third phase of Covaxin, a coronavirus vaccine product of Bharat Biotech, to start in Haryana on 20th November. I have offered myself as the first volunteer to get vaccinated,” he had tweeted on November 18.
“I will be administered trial dose tomorrow at 11am , at Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantt under the expert supervision of a team of Doctors from PGI Rohtak and Health Department. I have volunteered to take the trial dose,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said in another tweet a day before he was administered with the dose.
Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research and National Institute of Virology, is India’s most touted indigenous vaccine. The vaccine candidate is currently undergoing phase 3 trial across 25 centres in the country. According to reports, 26,000 volunteers have been involved in the late-stage trials of covaxin.
