With 69,921 people testing positive, India’s Covid-19 tally mounted to 36,91,166, while recoveries surged to 28,39,882 on Tuesday pushing the recovery rate to 76.94 per cent, as per the health ministry data. The death toll climbed to 65,288.
With 1,931 new cases on Monday, Pune has now overtaken Delhi to become the city with the maximum number of people infected with the novel coronavirus. Monday’s addition took Pune’s total case count to 1,75,105, leaving behind Delhi’s 1,74,748, as per figures from the state Public Health department till August 31.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka has nearly half of all the active cases in the country.Maharashtra has 1,94,399 active cases, Andhra Pradesh has 1,00,276 and Karnataka has 87,254 cases till today, according to the ministry of health.
2,993 new COVID-19 cases, 3,318 discharges and 52 deaths reported in West Bengal today. Total number of COVID cases stands at 1,62,778 in the state, including 25,280 active cases, 1,34,270 discharges and 3,228 deaths so far.
