At the Kasturba Residential School in the Mitauli area of the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, up to 38 female students tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. During the contact-tracing efforts, a staff member was also discovered to be Covid-positive.
The UP Health Department has now declared the entire campus a quarantine area, according to news agency PTI. This year, there have been no days with more new Covid cases reported in a district than today.
The Times Of India reports that during the past 10 days, there has been a stunning 354% increase in instances in UP, going from 74 to 262. The most recent set of new cases has increased the number of infected UP districts to 42. A top health official claims that 95% of the eligible population in UP has received the Covid vaccine.
Santosh Gupta, chief medical officer for Lakhimpur Kheri, spoke about the infections at the Kasturba Residential School and said that a medical team had been sent there to get samples from all 92 on-site contact cases. 38 of them, according to the study, tested positive for Covid. Even so, the majority of them showed no signs.
All of the staff members and students received medication kits
According to Gupta, all of the staff members and students received medication kits and were instructed to stay on campus for a seven-day quarantine. The other students are doing well, but two of them have cold symptoms.
People who tested positive for Covid have been isolated in a separate part of the school grounds. A mother-and-child wing in Motipur has been told to have 20 beds ready for any medical needs among the campus’s pupils and personnel. Gupta assured the students that he would monitor their health carefully. The school has an ambulance stationed there to help in an emergency.

There are now 41 active Covid cases in the region as of March 23. The same residential school’s Mitauli block student who tested positive for Covid-19 on March 23. Another person in Mitauli block and an elderly person from Behjam block both tested positive.
Mahendra Bahadur Singh, the district magistrate for Lakhimpur Kheri, stated that all necessary measures, including the delivery of medical supplies and sanitization, had been carried out. He advised them to adhere to Covid-19 procedures and that they shouldn’t panic.
According to the most recent data, there were 10,300 active Covid cases in the nation as of Monday morning at 8 a.m. The number of patients increased by 62 during the past 24 hours, according to UP, bringing the total to 246. During the same time, the state also recorded one fatality.
