China is currently at the same stage as India was earlier
Gupta claimed that although India is now well-versed in combating the virus, China is currently at the same stage as India was earlier.
“We faced the first wave, second wave of a much serious delta variant and the third wave of the Omicron variant which was not that serious but very infectious,” said Gupta.
He claimed that because of China’s severe lockdown policies, its populace had limited immunity.
Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health, declared on Saturday that travellers arriving from five countries, including China, will now be required to do the RT-PCR test.
“The RT-PCR test to be mandatory for international arrivals from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand. On arrival, if any passenger from these countries is found symptomatic or tests positive for Covid-19 infection, then he/she will be put under quarantine,” according to Health Minister Mandaviya in an interview with ANI.
