India recorded 2,994 new cases of Covid on Saturday, a slight decrease from the previous day, despite a spike in the number of active cases to 16,354.
Nine people died, bringing the total number of deaths in the nation to 5,30,876. Two deaths were reported from Delhi, one from each from Gujarat and Karnataka, and two more were added together by Kerala. The active cases make up 0.04 percent of all infections when combined with newly acquired infections.
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India’s Covid-19 total is currently 4.47 crore. The weekly positivity rate was 2.03 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 2.09 percent.
Moreover, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is behind in daily testing even though the number of active cases in Mumbai has increased by 92% in the past week. The civic body only conducts 1,200 tests per day on average. The Covid task team has noted the public’s concern regarding testing, nevertheless.
With 177 additional Covid cases recorded on Friday, Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR), or the proportion of positive cases among all tests performed, increased by 13.6%. According to a press release from BMC, just 1,299 tests were carried out on the previous day, which may be one of the major causes.
