There is a continuous increase in the cases of Omicron, a new variant of the corona virus in Delhi. In view of this, the states have made Covid restrictions more strict. In this episode, restrictions are in force in Delhi under Yellow Alert. In this, some restrictions have been imposed under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). It is known that ‘Yellow’ alert is issued when the Covid infection rate remains more than 0.5 percent for two consecutive days. Under this, all schools and colleges have been closed. Also, these restrictions include several restrictions, including the participation of a maximum of 20 people in marriage and funeral gatherings and reducing the number of seats in Delhi Metro and buses by 50%.
According to the GRAP prepared by the government, if the positivity rate of Covid-19 crosses the five percent mark and remains above it for two consecutive days. So a ‘Red’ alert will be issued in Delhi. This means that there will be a curfew on the movement of people during the night as well as on the weekend. However, some relaxation will also be given based on the categories decided by the government. Shops and establishments dealing with non-essential goods and services will remain closed during this period. Malls and weekly markets will also remain closed.
Apart from this, restaurants and bars will remain closed and delivery of only essential items will be allowed. Hotels and lodges will be allowed to remain open, but subject to the condition that no banquet/convention will be held. However, room service will be allowed to in-house guests.
Cinema halls, banquets, spas, yoga institutes are already closed in Delhi under the current yellow alert. But after this barber shops and beauty salons can also be asked to close. At the same time, government offices will also remain closed except those providing essential and emergency services. As per GRAP, such establishments will be allowed to remain open with 100 per cent staff attendance. The same would be applicable for private offices.
The limit for gatherings for weddings and funerals will be reduced from the current 20 to 15. Delhi Metro, which is currently operating with 50 per cent capacity, will also shut down as per GRAP norms.

After getting about 3200 new corona patients in Delhi on Sunday, the total number of infected people here has crossed 14.54 lakhs. With this, the positivity rate has also increased to 4.42 percent. At the same time, if we look at the active cases, then it has also increased to close to 8400. According to the Health Bulletin issued by the Health Department of Delhi Government on Sunday, in the last 24 hours where 3194 new patients of Corona have been found, today one patient also died due to infection. On Saturday, 2,716 new Covid cases were reported in Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that even though the number of cases of Covid-19 and the number of patients under treatment in Delhi is increasing, but there is no need to panic as most of the patients have either no symptoms or very mild symptoms and people does not need to be admitted to hospital . He presented data to show that despite the rise in cases, hospital beds need less than one per cent and far less than the deadly second wave of coronavirus that struck in April last year.
