The COVID-19 vaccine campaign has started. Vaccination has been introduced in several states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka. The first vaccine shot was given to a scavenger, Manish Kumar at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi.
He has become the first person in the country to get a vaccine. During vaccination, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan was also present.
“I had a very nice experience. I was not reluctant to get the vaccine shot … people need not be worried. Now I don’t have any doubts regarding the vaccine. Everyone must get inoculated,” he was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.
A few minutes later, AIIMS director Dr. Randeep Guleria was vaccinated with the corona vaccine.
“These vaccines are our ‘sanjivini’ in our fight against the pandemic. We have won the battle against polio and now we have reached the decisive phase of winning the war against Covid-19. I want to congratulate all frontline workers on this day, “Health minister Vardhan told reporters shortly after the vaccine shots were administered.
Also Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla posted on Twitter and shared a video of taking the Covishield vaccine himself which has been manufactured by his company.
“I wish India & Sri @narendramodi ji great success in launching the world’s largest COVID vaccination roll-out. It brings me great pride that #COVISHIELD is part of this historic effort & to endorse it’s safety & efficacy, I join our health workers in taking the vaccine myself,”Adar Poonawala wrote on Twitter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually kicked off world’s largest Covid-19 vaccination drive. He started with a speech addressing more than 3,000 centers across India where the first shots were to be given.
PM Modi introduced the world’s largest Covid vaccination in India.
PM Modi started the first phase of vaccination campaign through video conference at 10:30 am.
PM said that ‘I want to remind you again that it is very important to have two doses of corona vaccine. Between the first and second doses, a gap of about one month will also be kept. Only 2 weeks after the second dose, your body will develop the necessary strength against the corona.
“Normally, it takes many years to make a vaccine but in such a short span of time, not one, but two ‘Made in India’ vaccines are ready. Meanwhile, the work on other vaccines is progressing at a fast pace. This is a living example of India’s capability and talent. India’s vaccination programme is based on a very important principle that those who are in need of the vaccine will get vaccinated first. Our doctors, nurses, medical & paramedical staff, sanitation workers in hospitals – be it private or hospital are entitled to get vaccinated. This will be done on priority,” the Prime Minister said.
