India reports 27,254 new coronavirus cases, 219 fatalities

On Monday, daily coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections in the country fell below 30,000 for the second day in a row, with 27,254 people testing positive for the contagious disease, bringing the total number of infections to 33,264,175, according to data released by the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW).

According to the data shared by Ministry, the country saw a total of 37,687 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate of coronavirus at around 97.51 per cent and total recoveries to 3,24,47,032.

In the same period, 219 related fatalities were also recorded, taking the cumulative toll to 442,874, comprising 1.33% of the overall caseload, the health ministry’s dashboard showed.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 54,30,14,076 samples have been tested up to September 12th for COVID-19. Of these 12,08,247 samples were tested on Sunday.
