As the second wave of coronavirus in India is increasing rapidly, the healthcare system is facing difficulties cope with surging numbers, with a shortage of medical supplies, beds, and oxygen cylinders only able to serve people with a serious condition.
Amid this crisis, the demand for Remdesivir – an injectable drug used for COVID-19 treatment – has been growing drastically. As the demand has left the drug in short supply, some people have been taking advantage of the dire situation to sell fake Remdesivir.
Police have arrested some people in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh for selling fake Remdesivir injections.
At such a time, it is important to be very careful and not fall prey to such dirty tricks.
IPS officer Monika Bhardwaj, DCP of the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, took to Twitter on Monday and posted tweets “for educational purposes” detailing how to differentiate genuine Remdesivir from a fake vial.
Monika points out certain ‘errors’ present on the package of the fake version of Remdesivir injection that can help differentiate it from the genuine jab.
