In Madhya Pradesh‘s Chatarpur district doctors have sounded alarm over kids suffering from Conjunctivitis. As per the local administration in Chatarpur almost 70% OPD patients are children with symptoms including redness, itching, and moist eyes. The spread has been attributed to excess humidity with no noticeable precipitation in the last few days. As per the ophthalmologist posted in Government hospital of Chhatarpur they have attended 700-800 cases of Conjunctivitis in the past week.
With the onset of monsoon there has been a sudden surge of the diseases in Lucknow as well. As per the officials in KGMU, SPM Civil, Lokbandhu Hospital there are daily 40-46 cases of conjunctivitis.
Symptoms and Prevention
The common symptoms of the infection include redness in eye, blurring vision, irritation, light sensitivity and moist eyes.
People having low immunity are generally affected by the disease. In order to avoid infection people are advised to keep surroundings clean and regularly cut and clean their nails. In order to avoid the spread of diseases people should avoid rubbing their eyes as it aggravates the infection. Emphasis should be laid down on clean surroundings and use of fresh towels and clean sheets.
