Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reviewed the current situation of oxygen supply in the country as well as the situation arising in the next 15 days in 12 worst-affected states of Covid-19.
According to a statement released from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi also reviewed in detail to ensure adequate supply of medical grade oxygen in the country.
According to the PMO, during this review meeting, information related to health, industrial policy and promotion department, steel, road transport and other ministries were shared with the Prime Minister.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister asked to ensure mutual coordination between all the Ministries and cooperation with the State Governments.
PM Modi detailed the current status and estimated use of oxygen supply in the next 15 days in 12 high burden states Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab. Reviewed the status of the district level in these states. The observation was placed in front of PM Modi.
PM Modi was told that the Center and the states are in regular contact and estimates of projected demand have been shared with the states on April 20, April 25 and April 30.
Accordingly, these 12 states have been allocated 4,880 MT, 5,619 MT and 6,593 MT to meet their projected demand on 20 April, 25 April and 30 April.
To meet the growing demand, the PM was informed about the production capacity in the country.
The PM suggested increasing the oxygen production according to the capacity of each plant. It was also said to ensure that the surplus stock of oxygen supply in steel plants is being made available for medical use .
