- New Dialysis Machines Installed Across Facilities
A total of 30 new dialysis machines have been deployed across these centres, with six machines at the Mata Kaushalya Hospital in Patiala and three each at the other facilities. An additional machine has been reserved exclusively for HIV-positive patients, ensuring comprehensive care for vulnerable groups.
Expanding Dialysis Services in Punjab
Currently, 39 out of Punjab’s 41 subdivisional and 23 district hospitals offer dialysis services. The state aims to expand this to 64 hospitals in the near future, ensuring wider access to life-saving treatments for kidney disease patients. Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted that the ABHA ID (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) allows patients to access free dialysis and medicines at any of these centres, making the programme more accessible.
Addressing Financial and Medical Challenges
Commenting on the initiative, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated, “This programme addresses both the medical and financial challenges of managing kidney disease,” emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting patients with chronic illnesses through improved healthcare infrastructure. The launch of these centres is expected to provide significant relief to kidney patients across the state, helping them receive the treatment they need without financial burden.
