Good news has come for the country struggling with the Corona crisis and lack of vaccine. The first batch of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday. This vaccine is more than 90 percent effective against the corona virus. In order to accelerate vaccination, the central government recently approved the use of Sputnik V in India by emergency.
Russia’s ambassador to India said that Sputnik V’s afficacy (effect) is more than all the world’s vaccines and that the vaccine is also effective against the new strains of the corona virus. He told that its local production will start soon and it will be gradually increased to 850 million (85 crore) doses as per the plan.
At the same time, Russia’s Ambassador to India N. Kudashev said that both Russia and India are committed to fight against this dangerous pandemic. He said that Sputnik V vaccine will work to save the lives of people in India and it is the most effective in the world.
Dr. Vaccine, the manufacturer of this vaccine in India Deepak Sapra, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Reddy’s Laboratories, said in an interview, “The first batch of Sputnik-V will be imported from Russia in limited quantities. Import from Russia will be discontinued as soon as we start supplying vaccines directly. Our company has selected six production units to manufacture the Sputnik-V vaccine in India. In two of these units, supply is expected to start from June-July. The other two units can start supply from August and the last two from September-October. ‘
Sapra added, “The first consignment of vaccine imported from Russia will be given to the central, state governments and private hospitals as per the government guidelines.” The pricing process of this vaccine is currently underway. There will be a difference in the prices of the imported vaccine and the vaccine made in the country.
However, the official did not say how many vaccines would be imported from Russia.
In the Phase III trial of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, it proved to be 91.6% effective and showed no side effects. After two months of testing, India approved the emergency use of this Russian vaccine in April. Sputnik is a vaccine-like viral vector of V. astraZeneca. But unlike any other corona vaccine, both doses of this vaccine are different from each other.
Regarding the price of this Russian vaccine in India, the company has said that a single dose of it will have to cost a maximum of seven and a half hundred rupees. The official price of this vaccine has not been announced at the moment. Right now, the central government buys two vaccines in the country for 250 rupees. More than 60 countries have signed contracts to supply this Russian vaccine. In such a situation, its global reach can be very high.
