To play a decisive role in the fight against Coronavirus, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has launched anti-covid medicine, 2DG (2-DG).
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan released the first batch of this medicine.
The drug is available in powder form
According to DRDO, the ‘2-deoxy-D-glucose’ drug is formulated by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) in collaboration with Dr. Reddy Lab of Hyderabad. After recently passing the clinical trial, the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) approved the use of this medicine by emergency. It is being told that this medicine will be available in the Sachet. That is, the patients will have to dissolve it in water and drink it .
While speaking at the release ceremony of the first batch of the 2-DG drug, Vardhan said, “With the support of DRDO and in the leadership of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, this (anti-COVID drug 2DG) may be our first indigenous research-based outcome to fight against COVID-19. It will reduce recovery time and oxygen dependency.”
“I hope that this drug will serve the world and not just India in the fight against COVID-19 in the coming days,” he further said.
