The Auto Expo 2020 featured Hero Electric’s new line of products, including the company’s first electric motorcycle and the leading electric two-wheeler brand in India by volume. Although Hero Electric chose to get parts and even the design from international partners, as the firm claims, the electric motorcycle, known as the AE-47, has been promoted as a luxury offering from the domestic electric vehicle manufacturer. The AE-47 has only recently been unveiled; this will likely be released in India soon and will cost between Rs. 1.25 and 1.5 lakh.

160 kilometres are said to be the Hero Electric AE-47’s claimed range on a single charge. “This is positioned as a slightly premium product from our portfolio, and while we will continue to focus on mass market electric vehicles, the AE-47 is a product which existing customers can aspire to upgrade to. It is a high-performance electric motorcycle and has a top speed of close to 100 kmph, and it’s a product which is premium and aspirational. Considering the strength of our network, we have lots of hopes on our new product range,” said Hero Electric’s MD Naveen Munjal.
A 4,000 W electric motor powers the Hero Electric AE-47, which has an advertised top speed of nearly 85 kmph. The AE-47 contains a 48V/3.5 kWh lightweight portable lithium-ion battery that charges completely in four hours. The AE-47 has two operating modes; in Power mode, a single charge is said to provide a range of 85 km, while in Eco mode, a single charge is said to provide a range of 160 km.
The bike claims to accelerate from 0 to 60 kilometres per hour in 9 seconds. Digital instrumentation, keyless entry, mobile charging, walk assistance, and a reverse feature are all included. A mobile app that supports the electric motorcycle includes GPS, GPRS, real-time tracking, and geofencing.
