Honda Activa Electric: We’ve known for a while that Honda Activa, the best-selling scooter in the world, has been working on an electric version for the Indian market. Now, we know that Honda will be putting out the Activa Electric soon.
The upcoming e-scooter will be based on the Honda Activa 6G
Atsushi Ogata, the president and CEO of HMSI, said that the company is likely to release Activa Electric by March 2024.
The upcoming e-scooter will be based on the Honda Activa 6G, but it will be powered by electricity. It will also have a fixed battery pack, which goes against the trend of EVs to have batteries that can be swapped out. This electric scooter’s top speed is said to be 50kmph. This means that both in terms of price and performance, the Activa Electric will beat out scooters like the Okinawa and the Hero.
Honda is also making another electric scooter for the Indian market
Honda is also making another electric scooter for the Indian market. This one will be based on a new platform and will have two battery packs that can be switched out. It could be made available to both individuals and businesses. The second one could be the Honda Benly e, since it has been seen testing before. You can expect the consumer e-scooter with a swappable battery pack to have about the same performance as the Ola S1, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida V1, and TVS iQube Electric.
In terms of the charging network in India, Honda already has 6,000 touchpoints (dealers, service points, etc.) all over the country that will be equipped with battery-swapping facilities.
Honda has also said that its 100cc commuter motorcycle will be released in March 2023 and that most people will be “positively shocked” by the price.
