Honda e-MTB: Honda unveiled the Honda e-MTB Concept, its first electric bicycle. The bike was recently shown at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, where it was displayed among a number of other cutting-edge concepts from top Japanese car and motorcycle manufacturers. In this article, we will tell you all you need to know about this amazing e-MTB concept.
Honda e-MTB Concept details
Given that it nearly resembles a trial bike with pedals and a saddle, Honda‘s skill in motorcycling is clearly evident. Featuring a swingarm design and a cut-out slot that seems to serve as a handle for carrying the bike, the frame is constructed from thin-wall aluminium.
Shimano disc brakes, an SRAM Eagle AXS transmission, and Fox suspension parts were included in the model that was on display at the Japanese Mobility Show. Though there have been rumours that the motor is a Brose Drive S Mag system with pictures of the display unit printed with the “Brose” label, this is still unverified.
In the event that the design is brought to market, the bike looks to have a portable battery charger, which would make for an intriguing extra accessory.
Will it launch?
Though still very much in the prototype stage, the e-MTB Concept is reportedly “being positively considered for commercialization,” according to e-bikejapan.com.
