Honda e Clutch: As a first in the motorcycle industry, Honda has unveiled a new automatic clutch control technology for manual motorcycle transmissions. The Honda E-Clutch technology provides an automatic replacement for a standard gearbox, but the Japanese company invented the dual-clutch motorcycle gearbox. In this article, we will tell you all we know about this amazing new technology.
Honda’s E-Clutch technology
According to the Japanese company, this innovative e-clutch system employs electronic control technology to deliver rapid, fine-tuned clutch management for maximum performance when the driving force changes. As you start, change gears, and stop, these shifts occur. It’s interesting to note that when the bike is being driven, a clutch lever can be used normally.
This technology is designed to let the rider concentrate more on enjoying the ride and less on controlling the motorcycle. The new technology may be put on current engine layouts and is advertised as being lightweight and small. Over time, Honda is likely to install an e-clutch in its current lineup of motorcycles.
When will we see it on the road?
The E-Clutch technology isn’t particularly complex, but it will take some time until Honda adds it to production motorcycles because the control unit needs to be tested and programmed to ensure that the mechanism functions properly in a variety of conditions.
