IMD Alert On Rain: In many states including North India, the havoc of the terrible heat continues. In Rajasthan and Vidarbha, the mercury has reached 45 degree Celsius in many places this month.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has told that there can be relief from the heat soon. There is a possibility of rain in Delhi and surrounding areas after May 16.
Senior IMD Scientist RK Jenamani said that the temperature remains 44 to 45 degree Celsius at about 7-8 stations in western Rajasthan and Vidarbha. Heat wave is prevailing and it will continue for next 3-4 days. Apart from this, heat wave conditions can occur in western Madhya Pradesh for the next 3 days.
He further said that from May 13 to 14, heatwave may start in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. Another active Western Disturbance is approaching around May 16 and after that there is a possibility of rain in Delhi.
Significantly, from Sunday, once again a scorching heat was predicted in Delhi, although the easterly winds due to the effect of Cyclone Asani have saved the national capital from the scorching heat. According to the India Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heat wave from Friday due to which the problems of the people may increase.
Mahesh Palawat, vice-president of private weather forecasting agency Skymet, said that one after the other, light rain, thunderstorm and strong winds had brought some respite from the scorching heat last week.
The weather in Delhi in the month of March was hot and dry. According to estimates in March, there was a normal 15.9 mm of rain, which did not happen. In April, 0.3 mm of rain fell against the monthly average of 12.2 mm. At the end of the month, the scorching heat raised the mercury to 46 degree Celsius and 47 degree Celsius in many parts of Delhi.
