Diesel cars: The Indian government is making a lot of effort to meet its goal of zero emissions, and as part of this effort, emphasis is being placed on the production, marketing, and financial support of electric vehicles. An important and significant proposal has now been made in this attempt by a ministry panel of the Narendra Modi administration. According to a commission appointed by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India should outlaw the use of four-wheeled diesel vehicles by the year 2027. Cities with a population of one million or more and polluting cities should switch to electric and petrol-powered automobiles as well, in order to reduce carbon emissions.
The reason behind ban on Diesel Cars
In actuality, India is a major source of greenhouse gas. India plans to generate 40% of its electricity from renewable sources in order to meet the zero-emission target by 2070. By 2030, no city buses that are not electric should be added to the urban transportation network, the government panel recommended in a report that was released on the website of the oil ministry.
The research also recommends against adding any new diesel buses for city transport after 2024. It is crucial to note that this is merely a recommendation from the Energy Transition Advisory Committee.
By 2030, India wants to increase the gas component of its energy mix from 6.2% to 15%.
