IND W Vs SL W: It was Smriti Mandhana against the world. The Women’s Asia Cup final started slowly as both Shafali and Smriti took their time to settle down. But even after that, the Blues were struggling.
Every player was taking their time to settle down before getting dismissed. At one point it looked like India would even struggle to cross the 140-run mark. But the Sri Lankans had a very big mountain in front of them in the form of India’s vice-captain.
Mandhana was in swift form against the Lankans as she scored a brilliant half-century to allow India a decent total in the final. The Vice-Skipper constructed more than one good partnership throughout her innings.
Dependable Smriti Mandhana
It has been a long time since we have seen this dependable version of Smriti back in action. And it won’t be wrong to say that we have missed this version of our vice skipper so much.
She scored a half-century in the Semi-Finals and was once again the lone warrior for the Blues in the finals. Smriti scored 60 runs in 47 deliveries with 10 boundaries in her innings.
She also stitched good partnerships with Shafali and Jemmimah and even Harmanpreet Kaur to some extent.
IND W Vs SL W: Intense Chase
With the heroic efforts of Smriti and sensational cameos by Jemmimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh, the Indian women’s team was able to score 165 runs in the final.
It will be a tough chase for Sri Lanka in the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium and all eyes will be on their skipper Chamari Athapaththu.
