Indian Union Road Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari believes that India ccan become the biggest EV manufacturing centre all over the world. Signalling to the recently discovered lithium-ion reserves in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister said that India has huge potentials for a big leap towards EV manufacturing in the country.
While Adressing the event organized by Confederation Of Indian Industry, New Delhi, Gadkari emphasized that by significantly reducing imports of lithium in the coming times, India can emerge as a big EV player in the world. “Every year, we import 1,200 tonnes of lithium. Now, in Jammu and Kashmir, we got lithium. If we can use this lithium ion, we will be the number one automobile manufacturing country in the world,” he was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Even Presently, India comes third on the leading Electric Market, the country has recently gave a run to Japan. Now, it comes after China and US. Nitin Gadkari stated that India EV industry has a Net Value of $7.5 Lakh Crore. With Utilizing around 5.9 million tonne of lithium discovered in Jammu and Kashmir which is the main component for EV manufacturing, now India can also head towards a big leap to become a major of the industry. Moreover, authorities also confirmed that the lithium discovered in Jammu and Kashmir is of a high quaiity.
India still needs to cover a distant journey to come before the Chinese and American EV industry which is backed by more advance technologies. China is undoubtedly the world’s largest EV market with so many local and global players not leaving even an inch of space for new players in the Industry. Further, Germany, United States and France are also the leading players of the EV Industry all over the world.
