BNCAP Launch in India: India is heading up to launch Bharat New Car Assesment Program (BNCAP) on 22 August. On Sunday, Central Government Authorities stated that all the Automaker in India will be required to follow New Safety Regulations while manufacturing passenger vehicles in India. The Government is set to launch the new safety regulation with Immediate effect on October 1, 2023. Checkout full story to get into more details.

Road Transport and Highway Ministry informed that Bharat NCAP will be an important step to significantly increase the level of road safety in India. Authorities have also raised the safety standard bar for 3.5 ton motor vehicles. Minstry also told that, buyers will now be able to analyze the safety of motor vehicles available in the country accounting to BNCAP Crash tests will conducted indigenously in the country. Cars makers will be free to test their via Bharat NCAP volutarily, cars will be awarded with star rating according to the level of their safety features and Crash tests results. Buyer will be able to easily compare the vehicles by just checking the BNCAP star ratings of the car.

After implementing New Safety regulations, it is expected that the demand of vehicles with more safety features will signficantly rise. It is also promote Automaker to manufacture vehicles with improved safety features. Road transport and highway ministry expects that raising the bar for safety features with BNCAP will increase the demand of Indian Vehicles across the borders.

New regulations has made it mandatory for all the passenger vehicles to be equipped with 6 Airbags. It is expected that with the introduction of these new safety regulation, the overall manufacturing cost of the vehicles will be increased. Budget to mid range segment vehicles will be the most impacted with these updated regulations which doesn’t comes equipped with airbags for the rear seat passengers, the car makers will now be required to provide airbags for the rear passengers too. It is expected that these new airbag addition will cost around Rs 8000-10000, including further modifications in the vehicles, the total increased cost is expected to cost Rs. 30000 to the automakers which will be ultimately incurred by the buyers of the vehicle.
