Indian Navy officer was attacked and beaten up by nearly a dozen men allegedly from the Shiv Sena for forwarding a cartoon of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on a social media platform.
The former Navy officer filed a complaint against Shiv Sena’s Kamlesh Kadam his eight to ten associates at Samta Nagar Police Station in Kandivali.

The daughter of the former officer called the attackers as Shiv Sena goons. Police arrested a total of four people, including Shiv Sena leader Kamlesh Kadam, in this case. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has also reacted to the matter. An official said that the incident took place at around 11.30 am in Lokhandwala Complex area of suburb Kandivali. He said, “Madan Sharma, retired naval officer, sent a cartoon to Thackeray in a WhatsApp group. Some Shiv Sena workers went to his house and beat him up.
People of Shiv Sena attacked my father. Later, the police came to our residence and insisted on taking my father with him. We have filed an FIR.The Mumbai Police arrested at least six people on September 12 in connection with an assault on a retired Indian Navy officer here over a WhatsApp forward. The six arrested include Shiv Sena leader Kamlesh Kadam and five party workers.
Dr Sharma, said that he was attacked by people from the Shiv Sena after the receiving threats for forwarding a message on Whatsapp.”My father received threats for forwarding a message. A number of people from the Shiv Sena attacked him. Later, the police came to our residence and insisted on taking my father with them. We`ve registered an FIR,” she said.
