Oxford University Hospitals: One of the major teaching hospitals in the UK, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has named Professor Meghana Pandit, a renowned physician of Indian descent, as its CEO. Pandit, who represents some of the largest teaching hospitals in the nation, becomes the trust’s first female chief and the first person of Indian descent to be named CEO of any National Health Service (NHS) trust in the Shelford Group.
Meghana Pandit is new CEO of Oxford University Hospitals
After a rigorous and competitive selection process that included what Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) termed as an intensive national and international recruitment search, Pandit, who had been acting as the interim CEO at OUH since July 2022, was permanently appointed to the position. Pandit said, “It is an honour to be asked to lead OUH on a permanent basis. I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues at OUH, our associates in the system of health and social services in Oxfordshire and across the BOB Integrated Care System, our partner universities, and Oxford Hospitals Charity to ensure the highest level of research- and innovation-enabled care for our patients and populations.
She added, “I am honoured to have the chance to continue leading with compassion, respect for others, and a drive for greatness.” Pandit completed her obstetrics and gynaecology training in the Oxford Deanery and worked as a visiting lecturer in urogynecology at the University of Michigan in the United States.
She has held the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for NHS trusts where she oversaw the hiring of hundreds of medical professionals and developed a clinical plan. She holds honorary professorships at Warwick University and Green Templeton College at the University of Oxford, respectively.
