Regarding the death of Mahsa Amini, Iran said that she died not due to beating but due to illness. This has been revealed in the medical report.
According to AFP, Iran’s Forensic Organization said in its report, ‘Mahasa Amini’s death was not due to injuries to the head and vital parts of the body. At the age of eight, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After that she had surgery. The death was related to it.’
In September, Amini was detained by the Morality Police for not wearing the hijab properly. She fainted at the police station and died three days later (September 16). Protests started in dozens of cities of the country against Amini’s death. Women took to the streets. Hijabs were burnt in the country. The death of Mahsa has caused uproar not only in Iran but all over the world. Women all over the world showed their support for Mahsa by cutting their hair. Many countries around the world condemned the incident.
The US imposed more sanctions on Thursday against Iranian government officials following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The US Treasury Office’s Foreign Assets Control Department has imposed financial sanctions on seven high-ranking officials in Iran for shutting down internet services, suppressing the voice and violence against protesters and civilians. Iran’s interior and communications ministers and several law enforcement leaders have also been banned.
Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas has expressed her support to the courageous women of Iran who are protesting over the death of 22-year-old Mehsa Amini. Priyanka, 40, posted a message on Instagram for the protesting Iranians, in which she praised the protesting women. Priyanka wrote, ‘I admire your courage. Risking your life, challenging the patriarchal system and fighting for your rights is not easy, but you are courageous women who are doing it every day, no matter what the cost.’
Priyanka also requested other people to listen to the appeals of the protesters and support them. She wrote, ‘All those people who can influence others should come forward. Give your voice to this important movement. Be aware and raise your voice, so that these voices are no longer forced to remain silent. I stand with you.’
