The iPhone’s thickness and design shouldn’t be affected by the USB-C port’s slightly larger size compared to Lightning, even if Apple is anticipated to use curved edges for the first time since the iPhone 11.
With the changeover to USB-C, almost all of Apple’s products will support the new standard; the only exceptions being AirPods, Mac accessories, and the iPhone SE, in addition to earlier iPhone models and the 9th-generation iPad. Lighting won’t be abandoned anytime soon because Apple is anticipated to keep selling the iPhone 13 and 14 for two more years.

According to earlier rumours, Apple may restrict the data transfer and charging rates for USB-C cables and accessories that are not a part of its Made for iPhone (MFi) initiative. Apple’s keynote for the iPhone 15 series is anticipated to take place on September 13.
