Jaipur News: Rajasthan University (RU) has been operating without a Vice Chancellor for the past 10 days, relying on the temporary leadership of the acting Vice Chancellor. After three days of deliberations, the search committee has finalized five names for the new Vice Chancellor, sealing them in an envelope and submitting them to the Governor. The Governor will make the final decision from among these five candidates.
The appointment will be finalized after consultations with the state government.
The names of Prof. Rajesh Singh and Prof. Alpana Kateja are rumored to be the frontrunners for the Vice Chancellor position. If Prof. Kateja is selected, she would become the first female Vice Chancellor in the university’s history. The appointment will be finalized after consultations with the state government.
Rajasthan University Teachers Association President, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, emphasizes the importance of appointing a strong Vice Chancellor for the institution. The university has been without a permanent leader since the completion of Prof. Rajeev Jain’s tenure on September 8. In the interim, Prof. KL Srivastava, Vice Chancellor of Jodhpur University, located 340 kilometers away, has taken on the additional responsibility.
