Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra “is a change, but it is not a magic wand”.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh even said that leaving the party in Goa is not a big blow for the Congress.
Discussions are taking place on the route of Rahul Gandhi’s India Jodo Yatra, especially not including Gujarat and Himachal in it. On this question, Jairam Ramesh said that the journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir was to be done in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. We wanted to travel from South India to North India like the Bhakti movement that happened centuries ago. There is a Congress MP in Kanyakumari, whereas till a few years ago, there used to be BJP MPs here. Despite that, we started there. So it has a geographical aspect, not a political aspect.
In this special conversation, Jairam Ramesh also targeted Prime Minister Modi. He said- There is no way to reach Gujarat and Himachal on foot from Kanyakumari before the elections. Because, it takes at least 90 days and even a 56-inch man could not reach these two states before the elections which started in Kanyakumari on 7th September.
Ramesh said- We have also decided the route of India Jodo Yatra keeping in view the safety and convenience. This yatra has nothing to do with the state elections.
Rahul Gandhi is leading this journey. This automatically resolves the question of leadership within the Congress. Jairam Ramesh told CNN-News18 that Rahul Gandhi will complete the 3750 km long journey along with 120 other India passengers in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Of these passengers, 30 per cent are women, with an average age of 38 years. Rahul sees it as a penance. If elections are not required, then on 1st October it will be clearly known who will become the President of Congress. And if elections are held, the party’s president will be announced on October 19.
Ramesh even said that incidentally the Congress is the only party within which there is a system to elect the President.
