Actress Kangana Ranaut’s heavy anticipated film Thalaivi is all set to hit cinemas on April 23. The official announcement regarding the release was made on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 73rd birth anniversary of actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa, on whose life the film is based.
Tweeting the news, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “To Jaya Amma, on her birth anniversary. Witness the story of the legend, #Thalaivi, in cinemas on 23rd April, 2021.”
The film will release in three languages — Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It is directed by AL Vijay also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in pivotal roles.
Thalaivi will showcase the life chronicles of former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa, from her rise in the world of films as an actress to becoming one of the most powerful politicians of all time.
Kangana had earlier in the day, teased fans about the big announcement by posting on Twitter: “On #Thalaivi’s 73rd birth anniversary, stay tuned as we make an important announcement at 6:35 PM today!”
The film was earlier scheduled to release last year but was postponed due to the pandemic. For the role, the actress underwent major transformation. She apparently gained 20 kg then lost it all for Tejas.
