Karnataka: Karnataka Assembly Deputy Speaker and three-time BJP MLA, Anand Mamani, passed away late on Saturday night. He was battling ill health for more than a month. The 56-year old is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. The three-time MLA represented Saudatti legislative assembly constituency.
Mamani, 56, was a diabetic patient and had a liver infection. He was undergoing treatment at Manipal hospital in Bengaluru. Initially, he was shifted to Chennai on the advice of a medical expert for treatment and subsequently, he was shifted to Manipal hospital. He had been in a coma for the past few days.
Bommai saddened
Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai visited the hospital and paid homage to him. “Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of our party MLA and Deputy Speaker of the state legislative assembly Anand Chandrashekhar Mamani. May his soul rest in eternal peace and may God give his family strength to bear the loss. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.
Anand Mamani’s father Chandrashekhar M Mamani had also served as the deputy speaker in the 1990s.
Anand Mamani’s mortal remains will be brought to his hometown on Sunday for the public to pay homage.
