Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is finalizing plans to launch his national party. The name of the party could possibly be Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
According to the report, KCR may announce the new party at a public meeting to be held in Hyderabad on October 5 on the occasion of Dussehra. Along with this, it will also be considered as KCR’s unofficial announcement of Prime Minister’s candidature for 2024, although party sources say that KCR will remain CM till the next assembly elections.
According to sources, the new party will go it alone in the elections. KCR has been an attacker on BJP for a long time, he had given a statement on the launch of the national party for the first time in April. Since then, it is not yet clear how he will accomplish his goal before the 2024 elections as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has no elected representation in other states.
TRS sources say that even after the launch of the national party, KCR will remain the chief minister of Telangana at least till the next elections. After that he may possibly contest the Lok Sabha elections. The TRS state executive will meet in the next few weeks to decide whether to merge or change TRS into the new organization.
KCR had announced to launch the national party in April this year. Since then, there is a discussion that KCR has taken this decision after the possibility of a third front is not visible. Recently, KCR went to Bihar and met CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. During this too he had expressed his feelings. He remained silent on Nitish’s PM candidature.
Only a few months ago, KCR visited different states and met leaders of the opposition party. During this he met Samajwadi Party President and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav. Apart from this, he also visited Mohalla Clinic after meeting Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Apart from this, KCR had met former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Chief HD Deve Gowda.
However, KCR can get challenges from three states to fulfill the dream of PM candidature. Nitish Kumar from Bihar, Mamata Banerjee from Bengal and Arvind Kejriwal from Delhi. All three leaders are projecting themselves for the post of Prime Minister. Nitish Kumar had gone to Delhi recently and met the leaders of the opposition.
