The Oscar 2022 is getting controversial after Will Smith’s slap to Chris Rock.
What happened?
After Chris Rock took the Oscars stage to present the best documentary award, the comedian made a joke about the actor’s wife, actor Jada Pinkett Smith.
Smith laughed at it in the beginning but Jada didn’t like it as rolled her eye. Suddenly, Smith wen up on the stage and slapped Chris right on his face.
However, Jada Pinkett-Smith was praised by social media users for her ‘dignified’ reaction to Chris Rock making a joke about her bald head at the Oscars last night.
When Smith returned to his seat he yelled out at Rock and said, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*g mouth.” Chris Rock told the audience, “Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me. It was a G.I. Jane joke. That was the greatest night in the history of television.”

Later he also apologised for his action at the academy’s event.
“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people,” he said, “Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. Love will make you do crazy things.”
