Lexus: The LF-30 and LF-Z EV ideas were on display by Lexus in their exhibit at the 2023 Auto Expo. Both the LF-30 Electrified and the LF-Z Electrified are equipped with all-wheel drives, however, the former has a dual-motor setup and the latter has four in-wheel motors.
All about the LF-30
The inside of the LF-30 is built on Lexus’ revolutionary Tazuna idea, which essentially involves designing a place that allows the driver to concentrate on driving while handling numerous functions without having to take their eyes off the road. It is said that the front passenger seat resembles a first-class seat on an aeroplane. It is claimed that the artificial muscle technology used in the back seats allows the chairs to adapt to the passengers.
The LF-30 also sports a Mark Levinson audio system with speakers integrated into the headrests and noise-cancelling capabilities. The information displayed on the AR-powered SkyGate display may also be changed using voice and gesture controls on the glass roof above the seats.
The LF-30 idea is powered by four electric motors, one on each wheel, which together creates 544 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It is stated to have a top speed of 200 kph and a 0–100 kph time of 3.8 seconds (claimed). The WLTP-rated range of the LF-30 is 500km, and it has a 110kWh battery that can be charged using a 150kW charger. Interestingly, the Lexus LF-30 has wireless charging capabilities as well.
LF-Z in detail
The LF-Z Electrified, which also features Lexus’ Tazuna idea, was the other concept vehicle on show. To customise audio playing, navigation, and drive mode selection, it uses artificial intelligence to understand the driver’s preferences and behaviour. The LF-Z receives a Mark Levinson sound system with noise-cancelling technology, just like the LF-30 EV. A digital key feature is also added, enabling customers to share the car without physically exchanging keys.
The LF-Z is propelled by two electric motors that combine to produce 544 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The Lexus has a top speed of 200 kph and a 0 to 100 kph time of 3 seconds. A 150kW charger may be used to charge the 90kWh battery, which has a 600km range.
