Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. This was their first meeting after the new government came to power in Maharashtra. Shinde and Fadnavis met the prime minister at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence and sought his “blessings and guidance” for the development of Maharashtra.
The Prime Minister’s Office said on Twitter, “Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mets Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Earlier, addressing a press conference here, Shinde said he would try to understand the Prime Minister’s vision for the development of the state and try to take Maharashtra to new heights.
Shinde said several projects like the Samridhi Expressway connecting Mumbai and Nagpur, metro rail in the cities and digging farm ponds to boost irrigation were initiated by Fadnavis but have been delayed under the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. . Those projects will be expedited.
Shinde and Fadnavis assumed office on June 30 after Uddhav Thackeray resigned from the post of Chief Minister. Thackeray had to face a massive rebellion in the Shiv Sena.
Last month, 40 Shiv Sena MLAs and 10 independents had pulled out of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi, an alliance with Congress and NCP, accusing Thackeray of deviating from the ideals of party founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
