MG Hector: Although MG has previously confirmed that the brand-new Hector will go on sale in January 2023, the Hector Plus, a three-row variant, has not received any updates. A new batch of images of the new MG Hector Plus test mules has recently appeared online, indicating that the vehicle will also go on sale soon. Although the test mules for the new Hector Plus are completely camouflaged, some design elements are highlighted in them.

What has been updated in the new MG Hector?
The middle row of seats, which is visible to have a captain’s seat, serves as the first indication that this vehicle is a three-row MG Hector Plus. The pictures show everything, even the third-row seat belts. Even if the exterior is extensively disguised by covers, we can anticipate that the Hector Plus will receive an update and have a new grille that differs somewhat from the one on the upcoming five-seater MG Hector.
The test mule is pictured with the same alloy wheel design as the current-spec variant, and new LED inserts are also anticipated for the taillamps. The revised three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel is visible despite the fact that the test mule’s cabin is completely camouflaged. The new variant will come with updated features such as a larger 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument console, and a redesigned dashboard with slimmer AC vents.
What has not changed?
The new MG Hector Plus will continue to use the same set of powertrains, which include a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, except for changes to the exterior and interior. The turbo-petrol engine, which has a maximum output of 250 Nm of torque and 143 PS of power, can be paired with either a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is sourced from Fiat and is only offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. It has a maximum output of 170 PS and a maximum torque of 350 Nm.
While MG has stated that the revised Hector with a five-seat configuration will debut in the first half of January 2023, we anticipate that the updated Hector Plus with both six and seven-seat configurations will debut not long after the former. The new Hector Plus will face off against three-row SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700.
