MG Hector vs Tata Harrier: At the recently concluded Auto Expo 2023, MG Motor debuted the next-generation Hector and Hector Plus facelift SUVs. The best-selling model from the car company with roots in Britain, the Hector SUV, has been redesigned and updated for the 2023 model year. The price of the updated 2023 MG Hector starts at Rs. 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and goes up to Rs. 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the Sharp Pro 2.0-litre diesel version with the most features.
The new Hector will compete in the market for small SUVs, which is led by the Hyundai Creta right now. The Hector will compete with cars like the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and even newer cars like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder. The Hector will also compete with the Tata Harrier SUV with its diesel versions.
MG Hector vs Tata Harrier: Key Differences
In terms of length and height, the Hector SUV is almost 100 mm longer and 54 mm taller than the Harrier. The Harrier SUV is about 60 mm wider across the shoulders. Both SUVs have a wheelbase that is almost the same, but the new Hector has 9 mm more than the Harrier.
Both SUVs have a diesel engine with four cylinders that are 2.0 litres in size. Tata’s diesel Harrier comes with both a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic transmission. MG Motor’s diesel models only come with a six-speed manual transmission. The diesel Hector and Harrier both make 167.67 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, which is about the same as each other.
Price: MG Hector vs Tata Harrier
The MG Hector is available with both gasoline and diesel engines, while the Tata competitor is only available with diesel engines. The SUV with a gasoline engine is likely to come out soon from Tata. To see how the diesel versions of the Hector compare to the Harrier in terms of price, here is a look at both.
For the base Smart diesel version of the MG SUV, the price starts at 19.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The version above Smart Pro costs 20.09 lakh, while the most expensive Sharp Pro costs 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom). All diesel versions of the MG Hector 2023 have a 2.0-litre engine that is only paired with a manual transmission.
Tata Motors, on the other hand, sells the XE manual version of the Harrier for 14,80 lakh (ex-showroom). Harrier diesel manual models cost a maximum of 21.05 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). The SUVs with automatic transmission cost between 17.50 lakh and 22.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
