MG Motor India revealed the new MG Astor SUV, the British carmaker’s fourth SUV, after the MG Hector, MG Gloster, and MG ZS EV to join its India line-up. The prices for the new MG Astor SUV will be announced next month.
The new MG Astor will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Taigun.
The exterior design of the MG Astor SUV remains quite similar to the ZS EV.
Even the dimensions are not too different, The Astor SUV stands The Astor SUV is 4,323 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width, 1,653 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,580 mm which houses 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The Astor is offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated. While the former is claimed to offer a maximum power of 138bhp and a peak torque of 220Nm, the naturally-aspirated unit produces 110bhp and 144Nm of torque.

Other noteworthy features on the MG Astor include a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and also, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. In addition, the MG Astor will be available with a choice of three interior colour schemes and these are named Sangria red, dual-tone Iconic Ivory, and Tuxedo black.
The MG Astor is the only SUV in its category to offer ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). The company has joined hands with Bosch to develop ADAS for the new Astor SUV. It offers features such as autonomous emergency braking system, ESP, forward collision warning, speed limit assist, adaptive cruise control, rear drive assist, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist and automatic high-beam lighting system. For safety and security, the SUV gets ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), traction control, hill descent control, 6 airbags, 360 degree camera.
MG Astor’s AI assistant voiced by Dr Deepa Malik Padma Shri and Khel Ratna awardee Dr Deepa Malik has lent her voice to the AI-powered in-car assistant in the MG Astor.
