Navy Day: Every year, the Indian Navy celebrates Navy Day to acknowledge the role it played in the Indo-Pak War of 1971, when it launched the meticulously planned Operation Trident and set fire to Karachi Harbor, altering the conflict’s trajectory and crushing the enemy’s spirit.
Navy Day Celebrations are held on December 4 every year
As part of the festivities marking India’s 75th anniversary of independence, Amrit Kaal, the Indian Navy set to demonstrate its combat prowess and capability through ‘Operation Demonstration’ at Vishakhapatnam on Sunday, December 4.
For the first time Navy Day will be celebrated outside National Capital
The President of India and the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces Droupadi Murmu , would be the guest of honour. Several dignitaries from the Central and State Governments are expected to attend the event, which will be hosted by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff.

Traditionally, Navy Day Celebrations are organized in New Delhi in the presence of the President and other dignitaries. This year for the first time , Navy Day Celebrations will be held outside national capital and Indian Naval ships, submarines and the special forces from Eastern, Western and Southern Command would showcase the capability and versatility of the Indian Navy. The event will culminate with a sunset ceremony and illumination by ships at anchorage.
The Indian Navy celebrations are held every year to instill maritime consciousness among citizens and infuse pride among citizens of India towards contributions made by it in safeguarding the maritime border of our country.
