Union HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that Joint Entrance Examination ( JEE ) mains National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ( NEET ) to be held in September .
The decision is based on the consideration by panel of experts .Admit cards will be issued to candidates 15 days prior the exams .Admit card is likely to be released by third week of August .
Now , the HRD Minister declared that the NEET will be on September 13 while JEE mains will be from September 1 to 6 and lastly, advanced examination on 27 September .
Around 16 lakh candidates fill form for NEET and 9 lakh candidates have registered to give JEE main .
Due to covid-19 lockdown both JEE and NEET had been postponed twice already .
Students have been signing online petitions and requesting government to postpone the exams . Parents as well as students expressed their concern over record rising Covid-19 cases .
Dr Ramesh pokhriyal tweeted ” keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone #JEE and #NEET examinations. JEE main examination will be held between September 1 to 6 an advanced examination will be held on 27th September and NEET examination will be held on 13th September .
” The covid-19 pandemic has created a challenge as far as conducting exam is concerned and in India the scale is huge . Therefore , for the future , NTA is looking at building capacity for holding online exams , which candidates can take from their homes ” an official earlier said .
