New on Netflix: Netflix is constantly coming out with new romcoms, an incredibly popular genre predominantly filled with white faces. However, the streaming giant shook things up this week, with the release of an all-Indian cast original romantic comedy.
Starring Suraj Sharma as Ravi Shah and Pallavi Sharda as Asha Maurya, Wedding Season is all about the classic pressure on Indian children around the globe: marriage. From Failure to Launch director, Tom Dey, this film is filled with nods to Indian culture, with an immigrant twist.
The basic premise of the movie is that to appease their nagging moms, a pair of Indian American entrepreneurs pretend to romance over a spate of nuptials.
Of course, we know what happens as a result. Love a romantic comedy!
The movie is now streaming on Netflix and is the perfect quick summer watch for when you’re bored and have nothing much to do.
